BBS Documentary

CONNECT: A look at Bulletin Board Systems

The following file is a 6 minute film made as part of a college project in 1992. Bulletin board systems have been around since before the Internet, and even before Windows or even MS DOS machine.

It is offered here with permission of the creator, Roy Janke. It used to be offered without his permission, but he recently found it via Google and let me know it was ok to keep it online.

I thought it was important to show the geeks of today what the geeks of yesterday were all about. I appear in the film as an expert at the time. That always made me happy.

Another more elaborate BBS Documentary that was created a few years ago as a major project and spans multiple DVDs is actually called BBS, A DOCUMENTARY and it is an excellent look into the life and times of the pre-Internet modem culture. I recommend it hightly to anyone interested in BBS culture or memories of what their Moms and Dads might have been up to before computers were all connected to each other.
